A Facebook App for Warner Brother’s movie Contagion. After a successful pitch to Warner Brothers International in Los Angeles, the concept for a Facebook App to test how an individual could be socially contagious became an integral part of the advertising campaign to promote Contagion. My role in the project involved conception, story-boarding and design. Essentially the app scraped user data from Facebook and included it an interactive video display which would eventually climax in a percentage amount of the user’s contagious level.
Unfortunately this app is no longer running on Facebook. I have a screen cast video below to show how the app worked. The app starts with a map during loading, this map shows how the contagion may spread. At the top of the screen you can read facts about contagious germs which develop in our environment. While this map and facts screen is on display, the app is scraping the user’s information in the background.
As the app begins we see our actor, he introduces the idea of the user having a possibly high socially contagious level. The user answers a couple of quick questions to help devise the users risk level. Upon completing this short questionnaire, the actor sends you into the contamination rooms. In each of these rooms, the app will take user generated data and integrate it into a video montage to display in the video. Any pictures, comments, videos, likes, location and friends data the user has created on Facebook is absorbed into the video. This information is used as a crucial factor in discovering the contagious risk of the user. Towards the end your profile photo and all your friends photos combine to form the title of the movie Contagion. The experience ends with a Share with your Friends page.
